Whether it is investing capital to create additional jobs, bringing new life to a building or activating a public space, our philosophy is simple: effect positive change in Detroit and the communities we call home.
Diversity & Inclusion
The Diversity & Inclusion team is committed to fostering an inclusive environment within the Rock Family of Companies built on open doors, open minds and an open culture rooted in trust. It also leverages our For-More-Than-Profit philosophy and culture to impact the outcome on race, police brutality, equity and inclusion for our team members and communities.
As an organization, we seek to attract diverse talent; engage, develop and retain team members; better engage with the community on issues of race, police brutality, equity and inclusion; and share our commitment so that we can drive the conversation forward.
For-More-Than-Profit means that we believe in doing well by doing good. When it comes to doing well by our team members and the communities we operate in, the question is never “are we doing enough?” The question should always be, “what more can we do?”
The Gilbert Family Foundation was created by Dan and Jennifer Gilbert in 2015. The foundation has the dual purpose of curing NF and transforming Detroit.
Dan and Jennifer Gilbert have been passionate advocates in the fight to end NF since their oldest son, Nick, was born with NF1. They have been long-time supporters of NF research initiatives at the Children’s Tumor Foundation, Children’s National Health System and the University of Alabama Birmingham. In 2015, they established the Gilbert Family Foundation to further advance their NF research efforts.
In 2017, the Gilberts established NF Forward, a nonprofit 501c3 organization. It shares a vision with the Gilbert Family Foundation to eradicate NF by funding groundbreaking, cutting-edge NF research. NF Forward strives to raise awareness about NF among a wide range of individuals and invite their support of this innovative vision.
NF Forward’s signature event is the beNeFit, a major gala held at TCF Center in downtown Detroit every November. Since 2013, beNeFits I-VII raised over $30 million for NF research and attracted more than 1,700 supporters annually to join the fight to end NF.
The Quicken Loans Community Fund is the philanthropic arm of Rocket Mortgage, the nation’s largest mortgage lender, Bedrock and other affiliated companies who comprise the Rock Family of Companies. Its strategy aims to support thriving, resilient and inclusive communities through data-driven investments in housing, employment and public life.
Through its For-More-Than-Profit model, the Quicken Loans Community Fund recognizes that business and community are inextricably linked, and it purposefully brings together all of the assets of the Rocket Mortgage and Rock Family of Companies business – team member talent, technology, policy advocacy, and philanthropic resources – to invest in comprehensive community development in Detroit and across the country.
Since 2010, Rocket Mortgage Chairman Dan Gilbert and his affiliated companies have invested over $200 million into addressing complex issues like tax foreclosure, chronic unemployment, and support of the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
